When designed with purpose, a modern kitchen does far more than handle dinner prep, it sets the tone for how a home feels when welcoming guests. For this bespoke transformation in Twickenham, our focus was on creating a dual-identity space: bright, high-performing, and effortless for daytime cooking, yet sophisticated, sleek, and atmospheric when night falls.
To bring the clients’ vision to life, we worked with their chosen palette of deep matte-black handleless cabinetry paired with high-contrast, heavily veined Calacatta marble. Rather than breaking up the stone, our design lets their choice take center stage, extending the marble seamlessly across the splashback and wrapping it around a statement island with a precision-bookmatched waterfall edge that drops straight to the light oak herringbone floor.
At the center of the rear wall run sits a fully clad marble prep niche, complete with an undermounted sink and minimalist tapware. Framed entirely by dark tall housing, this alcove serves as a bright, luminous focal point during the day while housing high-end integrated Miele appliances completely flush behind surrounding doors for a clutter-free visual profile.
Worktop efficiency was paramount on the island itself. Beneath the seamless marble top, the island houses ultra-clean, handleless pan drawers finished in the same tactile matte black as the tall units. Every drawer reveals clever bespoke storage designed around the chef’s workflow, including a custom shallow drawer fitted specifically for spice jars directly beside the flush-mounted hob.
Off to the side of the main island, we integrated a bespoke drinks bar with smoked mirror backing, glass shelving, and built-in wine cooling. This creates a dedicated entertaining zone separate from the primary cooking space. Positioned right next to it, a customer Crittall-style door opens into a walk-in pantry, offering plenty of hidden storage for prep work.
With matching dark cabinet interiors and warm lighting set across the stone worktops, no detail was overlooked in creating a kitchen built for both daily life and effortless hosting.
