When we sat down with Mr & Mrs Patel, the goal was clear: create a space that felt bright, airy, and effortless to cook in during the day, but shifted into a warm, inviting backdrop for entertaining friends in the evening.
To bring that balance to life, we recommended a classic in-frame Shaker style, brought to life with a rich two-tone colour palette.
The clients chose a striking two-tone palette, and our role was ensuring the layout maximised its potential. The soft off-white cabinetry along the perimeter reflects natural light across the primary prep zones, creating a bright, open workspace for daily cooking. To contrast, their choice of deep forest green for the central island and tall appliance bank grounds the room, establishing the island as the natural focal point for gathering.
Along the main run, a custom mantle canopy frames the range cooker, set against a continuous Calacatta quartz splashback fro an effortless, easy-clean finish. Practicality was built into every corner, including counter-top appliance dressers on either side of the range. Complete with bi-folding pocket doors, warm internal LED lighting, and hidden power points, they allow small appliances, kettles and chargers to be tucked neatly away, keeping the main worktops entirely clutter-free.
Anchoring the room is a multi-functional central island in deep forest green, serving as both an intuitive prep hub and a casual gathering spot equipped with soft-close pan drawers, concealed storage, and an integrated brass tap to keep worktops clutter-free while conversation flows.
Inside the drawers and cupboards, functionality is built into every inch. Custom-built solid oak cutlery trays and spice organisers sit directly alongside the range cooker for quick access while cooking, while a smooth LeMans pull-out mechanism turns the awkward corner cabinet into effortless, accessible storage for heavy pots and pans.
Building on the clever storage, Dennis integrated a bank of tall cabinetry housing side-by-side Liebherr column refrigeration, topped with backlit, glass-fronted oak display cabinets that bring a soft ambient glow to the room at night.
Tying the entire design together, light oak herringbone parquet flooring runs underfoot, complementing the solid oak cabinet interiors and bridging the contrast between the deep green and off-white cabinetry with natural warmth.
